The purpose of the Sheriff's Citizens' Academy is to foster better communication between citizens and the Sheriff's Office through education. The academy creates a focus of well-informed citizens who possess greater insight into Law Enforcement/Corrections practices and services.
Graduates of the academy are encouraged to share their knowledge and experiences with the community as the opportunity arises. Everyone benefits from enhancing citizen understanding of the role and function of their Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Citizens Academy is not intended to serve as an accredited law enforcement course, but merely to provide insight into the internal workings of the sheriff's office.
Graduates may elect to participate in the Chatham County Sheriff's Office Community Partnership Unit upon successful completion of the Sheriff's Citizen Academy.
