Wednesday, January 13, 2020 - The following information is a COVID-19 update from Sheriff John T. Wilcher regarding the Chatham County Sheriff's Office (CCSO) current pandemic information:
As of Jan.13, 2021: 2126 inmates have been tested for COVID -19 to date: Since April 1, 2020: 127 positive, 1977 negative, 6 pending. The current jail population is approximately 1337.
Twenty inmates are currently COVID-19 positive and are isolated receiving medical care. As a precautionary measure, we are isolating each arrestee for 14 days and testing them before moving into general population. The five-dollar medical copay is waived. Inmates must be confirmed negative before moving out of isolation into general population of the jail.
As of Jan.13, 2021: 8 staff are currently COVID -19 positive. Since April 1, 2020: 83 staffers have tested positive.
As a precaution, we are no longer accepting in person meetings for attorneys and their clients detained in the Chatham County Detention Center, only virtual meetings until further notice.
Fingerprinting and background services suspended until further notice.
